A man who was shot in the head Tuesday at a traffic light in the Humboldt Park neighborhood died this morning from his injuries, officials said.
Alexis Garcia, 23, of the 1500 block of South California Avenue, was pronounced dead at 5:45 a.m. at Mount Sinai Hospital, according to a spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Preliminary reports said Garcia was a passenger in a vehicle stopped at a red light at the intersection of Grand and Sacramento avenues shortly before 6 a.m. Tuesday. As the driver waited for the light to turn green, a gold-colored minivan pulled up and someone inside of the van shot Garcia in his head, police said.
He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead this morning, officials said.
As of 8 p.m. tonight, no one was in custody for the shooting. Grand Central Area detectives were investigating.
