Gunman chased by police runs through glass door, dies NOE THAT'S JUSTICE)

A gun-toting man running from police died after he suffered multiple cuts running through a glass door, authorities said this morning.

Officers saw the man firing a gun in the air  just before 8:30 p.m. in a vacant lot in the the 6200 block of

South Vernon Avenue

in the West Woodlawn neighborhood, police said. The Cook County medical examiner's office identified him this morning as Jonrynn Avery, 24, of the same block.

As Avery ran from officers into his residence, he crashed through a glass door, suffering multiple lacerations, police said.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:09 p.m.

Police were handling the case as a death investigation and not a homicide, according to a police spokesman
