A 15-year-old boy was robbed at gunpoint and roughed up by a group of seven people near the Ogilvie Transportation Center Tuesday evening, police said.
The boy was in the 100 block of North Clinton Street, on the same side of the street as Ogilvie, when he was approached by seven men or boys about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to police. One of them took out a handgun and demanded the boy's money and valuables, and another hit him in the back of the head, police said.
The robbers went through the boy's pockets and took his cell phone, a bus card and cash from him, according to a police report. The seven then fled, police said
The boy was not seriously injured and was not hospitalized, according to police.
The robber with the gun was described as a black man about 19 years old, about 6-foot-1 and weighing about 170 pounds. He had brown eyes and black hair in dreadlocks, as well as a tattoo on his right hand, according to police.
The attacker who hit the boy in the head also was a black male teen, between 15 and 18, about 5-foot-11 and weighing about 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing dark jeans shorts and a purple shirt with the letters "ENYCE" stenciled on the front in rhinestones, according to police
