Chicago police believe that the same man grabbed two women and tried fondling them in separate incidents on the Northwest Side earlier this week.
Both incidents were reported within five minutes of another on Monday, the first occurring at about 10:40 a.m. in the 2900 block of North California Avenue, police said today in a news release. The second occurred less than a mile away in the 2400 block of North Mozart Avenue.
In each incident, a man approached the female victim from behind, reached down and lifted the victim's skirt or dress, police said.
The offender then grabbed each victim by the shoulders, trying to turn her around and fondle her. The offender in both cases fled on foot.
Police believe the offender had been loitering in front of a Starbucks at the corner of Logan Boulevard and California Avenue.
He is described as an African-American man between 30 and 40, between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-10, weighing between 170 and 190 pounds with short black hair and a dark brown complexion. Police did not provide a clothing description.
