The boyfriend of the mother of an 18-month-old boy was in custody this morning in the presumed beating death of the child, police said.
Chicago police were dispatched late Sunday night to answer an emergency call about an unresponsive child in the 4200 block of South Calumet Avenue in the Bronzeville neighborhood, said Police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak.
There they found Adonis Bright bleeding from the mouth, with the mother's 23-year-old boyfriend telling them the child had fallen out of his crib.
Adonis was pronounced dead at 10 p.m. Monday at University of Chicago Medical Center.
Charges are pending the results of an autopsy later today. Adonis had bruising to his face and body, pulmonary contusions and head injuries, officials said
