Three people were arrested and charged with a robbery that occurred earlier this week on a CTA bus on the Near West Side, police said tonight.
The robbery occurred on June 5, against two victims who suffered minor injuries in the attack, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer VeeJay Zala.
The attack happened on the 1300 block of West Roosevelt Road in the Little Italy neighborhood at about 1:05 a.m., and the suspects were arrested after police saw video footage from the bus, police said.
Akeem J. Manago, 18, of the 1200 block of West 14th Street was charged with aggravated battery in a public place, felony armed robbery and unlawful use of a weapon, all of which are felonies, police said. He also was charged with misdemeanor counts of having a firearm and ammunition without a Firearm Owner's Identification Card.
Also arrested was Christopher Jackson, 17, who was charged with armed robbery and aggravated battery in a public place, both felonies, police said.
A 15-year-old boy also was arrested and charged as a juvenile with felony robbery, being armed with a dangerous weapon and aggravated battery occurring in a public place.
Manago and Jackson are expected to appear in bond court on Thursday. Information about the juvenile was not available, police said.
According to a community alert issued Tuesday two similar attacks happened on CTA buses late Saturday evening and early Sunday. One of the incidents occurred on a bus on the 1300 block of South Racine and a second incident on the 1300 block of West Roosevelt Road, police said.
In each case between eight to 15 male teenagers got on the bus without paying and without warning began hitting the victims with objects including their fists. The people exited the bus and fled on foot with a cell phone and another electronic device.
Police said they continue to investigate and may be searching for more people.
