Police were questioning two people this morning in connection with the shooting death of a man who was trying to protect his girlfriend from a hostile group of women, officials said.
The shooting happened shortly before 8 p.m. Monday on the 7600 block of South Eberhart Avenue, police said. Reports stated Lavarro Taylor's girlfriend was being attacked by a group of females and that when he intervened he was shot by a group of males.
Taylor suffered mutliple gunshot wounds to his head and body, police said.
Taylor, 26, of the 3500 block of Block Avenue in East Chicago, Ind., was pronounced dead less than an hour later at Stroger Hospital.
Taylor was among six people killed and 21 others wounded in separate shootings throughout the city on Memorial Day.
So far, no charges have been filed in the slaying
