Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle appointed a City Hall veteran as her new budget director today.
Andrea Gibson, who will make $143,000 in her new post, most recently served as the first deputy budget director under Mayor Richard Daley.
Gibson worked at City Hall for 16 years, the last nine in the city’s budget office. The budget has been a continued problem for Daley in recent years. He could be leaving Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel with a nearly $1 billion budget shortfall between day-to-day expenses and pension requirements
