A man was wounded this evening after he was shot in the West Woodlawn neighborhood, police said.
Officials were notified about the shooting at about 6:09 p.m. which occurred on the 6200 block of South Vernon Avenue, police said.
The shooting involved an off-duty officer who was not injured and a man who suffered a gunshot wound, police said.
The bad guy, whose age was not available, suffered non-life-threatening injuries, said William Carlos Weeden, deputy chief administrator of the Independent Police Review Authority, which investigates police-involved shootings.
The circumstances leading to the shooting and the man's condition were not available.
