Chicago police are asking for the public's help in apprehending a man who tried to force an 8-year-old girl into an alley in the Gresham neighborhood, officials said today.
The incident happened on April 11 about 2:10 p.m. as the girl was riding her bicycle on the 1700 block of West 81st Street on the South Side, police officials said in an alert.
While the girl was riding her bike, a man wearing a black ski mask grabbed the girl and attempted to force her into an alley, police said.
After the girl began screaming, her mother came to her assistance, police said. The man fled down the alley, police said.
The man is described as black, 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing about 150 pounds, with a slim build and a medium complexion. He was wearing a black ski mask, black puffy jacket and light blue jeans, police said.
