28-year-old man found shot outside his South Shore neighborhood home had died, police said.
Killed was Jamar Connor, of the 7600 block of South Kingston Avenue, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Connor was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the head on the street just outside of his home at about 3:40 p.m., police said.
Because he was found on the street, responding officers initially thought Conner was wounded in a drive-by shooting. Officers now believe that he was shot inside his apartment and staggered to the street, where he collapsed, said Officer Dan O'Brien, a police spokesman.
The victim was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in extremely critical condition, where he died.
No arrests have been made in the slaying and police didn't offer a motive
