3 wounded in shootings across city

At least three people were wounded Monday evening in shootings on the city's South, West and Northwest Sides, officials said.

The first shooting happened shortly after 5 p.m. on the 200 block of South Kostner Avenue in the city's West Garfield Park neighborhood.

Preliminary reports said a 19-year-old man was driving when he was shot nine times. He was taken in serious condition to Mount Sinai Hospital.

Less than an hour later, a 17-year-old boy was shot in the city's Belmont Cragin neighborhood.

That shooting happened on the 2800 block of North Central Avenue, police said. The youth was walking in a parking lot when someone leaned over a fence and fired in his direction, striking him in the leg, police said.
The teen drove himself to Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center where he was listed in good condition.

About an hour later, a 20-year-old man was shot multiple times in the city's Grand Crossing neighborhood.

That shooting happened on the 1500 block of East 68th Street. Preliminary reports said the man was shot several times in the torso by an unknown suspect who fled the scene. The victim was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was listed in fair condition.
