2 killed in Southwest Side shooting

Two men were killed this morning in a shooting in the city's Chicago Lawn neighborhood on the Southwest Side.
The victims are Juan Guzman, 23, of the 5600 block of South Troy Street in Chicago, and Santos Rodriguez, 22, of the 5900 block of South Albany Avenue in Chicago. Rodriguez was pronounced dead at 5:05 a.m. at Stein Institute, and Guzman was pronounced dead at 5:20 a.m. at Stein.
The shooting happened about 1:06 a.m. in the 6000 block of South Albany Avenue, the two victims were on the street in that area when they were approached by another offender on foot who began shooting.

Pregnant teen dies in shooting; baby saved

A teenager six months pregnant was shot and killed on a street in the Marquette Park neighborhood late Tuesday, but doctors were able to save her baby.
The teen, identified this morning by the Cook County medical examiner's office as Charinez Jefferson, 17, of the 600 block of South Albany Ave., was walking with a group of friends on the 3000 block of W. 64th Street at 10:35 p.m. when a male gunman got out of a car and ran at the group.
"One of them yelled, 'He's got a got a gun,' and everyone scattered.  Jefferson was found moments later lying on the street with multiple gunshot wounds to her body and one shot to her head.
She was put on advanced life support equipment in an ambulance and transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition. At the same time, paramedics worked to save the baby.
Jefferson was declared dead at 11:11 p.m. at the hospital, but doctors at Christ saved the baby.

Man women shot in Marquette Park neighborhood

Police are looking for two suspects — a male and a female — who shot two people sitting in the hallway of a Southwest Side building.

The shooting happened about 11:40 p.m. Wednesday in the 3000 block of West 64th Street, police officer Ron Gaines said.

The two were sitting inside the hallway of a building when the two suspects walked in and started shooting, a Chicago Lawn District captain said.

A man, 20, was shot in the left thigh while an 18-year-old woman was shot in the buttocks, the captain said. Both were taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. No information about their conditions was available.

3 teens injured in Chicago Lawn shooting

Three male teens suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds in a shooting this afternoon in the South Side's Chicago Lawn neighborhood, officials said.
The incident happened just after 6 p.m. in the 6200 block of South Richmond Avenue, according to police.
The victims were ages 14, 16 and 17, said Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford. The two older teens were shot in their legs, while the youngest teen was shot in a toe, he said.
They were taken to local hospitals in fair condition.
