3 people shot 1 shot dead in West Chatham

The homicide occurred in an incident in which three people were shot about 1:23 a.m. on the 8800 block of South Princeton Avenue in the West Chatham neighborhood on the South Side. According to preliminary reports, a male who sustained a gunshot wound to his chest was found unresponsive at the scene and was transported to Roseland Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:10 a.m..
The man was identified as Rick Szewka, 29, of the 4600 block of North Kimball Avenue.
In the same incident, a 37-year-old woman suffered gunshot wounds to both legs and a 33-year-old woman suffered a gunshot wound to one leg. Both were transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where their conditions had stabilized.

13 YR SHOT

a 13-year-old boy was shot while standing in front of his home in the West Chesterfield neighborhood, police said.

That shooting happened about 2 p.m. on the 9400 block of South Indiana Avenue. Preliminary reports stated the boy was in front of his home when a gray Chevrolet Cavalier drove down the block and a passenger in the back seat began shooting, police said.

The boy suffered a bullet wound to his left calf and was taken in good condition to Roseland Community Hospital.
