Police shoot man on South Side

The shooting happened about 11 p.m. when uniformed Grand Crossing District officers were in the 6300 block of South Vernon on patrol when they observed several males and approached them to conduct a field interview.
 As the officers approached, one of the males fled on foot with his hand in his waistband. One of the officers gave chase and was confronted by the man, who refused to obey the officer’s orders to remove his hand from his waistband. As a result of this action, and in fear of his life, the officer discharged his weapon, striking the man.
 The offender was taken into custody and transported to an area hospital, police said. No officers were reported injured.

Man critically injured in shooting near Washington Park

A man was in critical condition after he was shot near Washington Park this afternoon.
The shooting happened at about 4:12 p.m. on the 6000 block of south Vernon Avenue.
The man sustained gunshot wounds to his head, abdomen and pelvis.
The man was taken in serious-to-critical condition to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County.

 A 48-year-old man was shot in his foot in the city's Washington Park neighborhood, according to a release from Chicago Police.
That shooting happened on the 6100 block of S. Dr. Martin Luther King J. Drive at about 5 p.m. as the man was getting out of his car.

MAN AND WOMAN SHOT IN WOODLAWN

A 25-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman were shot at 2:20 a.m. this morning in the 6000 block of South Champlain Avenue in the West Woodlawn neighborhood. The two were standing on a porch when they were shot.
The man was hit in the neck and was transported to John H. Stroger Jr., Hospital of Cook County in serious condition. The woman was shot in the foot and buttocks and was also taken to Stroger.

4 teens shot in area where Mayor Emanuel to visit today

Four teenagers were wounded Tuesday night in a drive-by shooting in the West Woodlawn neighborhood on the South Side.
The scene of the shooting is just blocks from  Woodlawn Center South, where Mayor Rahm Emanuel is scheduled to meet later today with U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Shaun Donovan, Sen. Dick Durbin and Rep. Bobby Rushto discuss a program to revitalize the blighted neighborhood (AND STILL THE LIBERALS DON'T GET IT).
The four male victims, ranging in age from 14 to 18, were sitting on a porch in the 6200 block of South Rhodes Avenue at about 9:40 p.m. when a gunman inside a silver vehicle pulled up and fired into the group.
The 14-year-old was struck in the right thigh, a 15-year-old in the left hip and left thigh, the 18-year-old man in the lower back, and a 17-year-old  suffered a graze wound to his left thigh.
All were taken to area hospitals in serious-to-critical condition but were expected to live, according to investigators.
Just two days before the wounding of the four teens, a 15-year-old Julian High School student was shot in the back three blocks away.
Residents who lined the streets in the moments following Tuesday night's shooting quickly fled into their homes, leaving the street almost empty just an hour later.

A 15-year-old boy was shot in the back in the West Woodlawn neighborhood on the city's South Side.
The teen told police that he was walking in the 6500 block of South Rhodes Avenue just after 9:15 p.m. Sunday when he heard gunshots and suddenly felt pain.

Tet shooting happened on the 6000 block of South Champlain Avenue  in the West Woodlawn neighborhood where a 32-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to his leg. The man was outside when he heard shots and felt pain. He was also taken to Stroger Hospital where he was reported as in good condition.

The man, believed to be about 18, was shot in the back in the 6100 block of South Eberhart Avenue about 8:07 p.m..

Passersby hold suspect after blind man robbed os wallet (Now that's justice)

A blind man was robbed of his wallet this afternoon in the South Side’s Woodlawn neighborhood but passersby came to his rescue, grabbing hold of the culprit until Chicago police arrived.
The suspect approached the 61-year-old blind man about 12:30 p.m. in the 800 block of East 63rd Street and went through his pockets.
After taking his wallet, the robber pushed the man to the ground.
Shortly thereafter, the passersby approached the robber and were able to detain him before police arrived.
While he was detained, police said, citing witness accounts, some “unknown males” punched the suspect in the face.
The robber was taken into custody, but also had to go to a local hospital for his injuries, O’Brien said. The blind man was not reported hurt.

3 teens wounded in 2 South Side shootings

Three teens were wounded within minutes of each other in two shootings on the city's South and Southwest Sides, officials said.
The first shooting happened about 10:50 p.m. on the 6100 block of South King Drive in the Washington Park neighborhood, police said.
Preliminary reports stated the victim, 18, was walking outside when he heard shots and felt pain in his buttocks and leg. He was taken in serious condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
