Police issued a community alert this morning warning the public about a man
who grabbed--and in one incident, sexually abused--two teens on the city's West
Side this week.
About 5:15 p.m. Monday, a 17-year-old girl was walking north on the 1700
block of North Pulaski Road after she exited a bus on North Avenue. A man
approached her from behind, placed his hand over her mouth and forced her toward
an alley.
The man fondled the girl, but fled the scene when she started to scream and
fight back.
Tuesday about 7:10 p.m., a 19-year-old woman got off a bus near North and
Grand avenues and started walking westbound on Grand. A man approached her from
behind and placed his hands around her neck, forcing her to the ground. When a
passing car distracted the man, the woman began to fight and he fled the scene.
The man was described as Hispanic and between the ages of 20 and 25. He is
between 5 feet to 5 feet, 3 inches tall and weighs between 120 and 130 pounds.
He was last seen wearing a red, white and black beanie hat with ear flaps and
hanging strings. He also was wearing a black puffy jacket and black pants,
