A 2-year-old girl died after she was attacked by a dog Saturday afternoon at her
grandfather's home in the South Chicago neighborhood and her death was ruled a
homicide.
Jah'niyah White was pronounced dead at 3:40 p.m. at Jackson Park Hospital
after becoming ill in the 3300 block of East 91st Street.
An autopsy today determined that she died from multiple injuries she
sustained in a dog attack and said a contributing factor was neglect and her
death was ruled a homicide.
The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is investigating the
grandfather for allegations of abuse pertaining to the child's death family.
Chicago Police detectives were conducting a death investigation after they
were called to the 91st Street address about 2:45 p.m. Saturday to assist Fire
Department personnel there.

Neglect fro what? To get her to the doctor? To change her bandages? To check for infections. She had already been treated for dog bites. What did they want the grandfather to do? Being neglegent concerning the dogs OK, but neglect from what else???
My dog that I adopted a pit, bit my head so bad and growled at my kids, I gave it back to pound. Did he know the dog was dangerous?
Was he home during the attack? Even with a family dog of any breed you watch them around a toddler. Especially if she didn't live w the dog. Did previous bites become infected? Was this head injury sat? Sounds like there is more to the story. To kill a child it has to be a pretty bad bite or a bad infection from a previous bite.
She died so someone was negligent. Wether for allowing the dog and her to mix or not treating previous wounds. Or maybe autopsy revealed previous injuries that had healed untreated.
Grandfather or not, we all need to be vigilant when it comes to the safety of our babies and minimize all dangers possible. Obviously he failed to do that. There is a penalty to pay for irresponsibility.
Shoot the dog!
Blame it on the dog like always
Leaving a toddler alone with any breed of dog is a very bad idea. Kids that young poke eyeballs, pull ears, and otherwise provoke bites from any animal. Even a teacup chihuahua can open up a toddler's throat and kill. This is classic "urban parenting". Good job, black people.
Its not black people. Its irresponsible people. A lot of them that look just like you.
