A 22-year-old man shot in the 2700 block of West Monroe Street on the Near West
Side about 5:20 p.m. The man was standing outside when an armed assailant
approached on foot and opened fire, striking him in the chest.
The 22-year-old fled in a vehicle and came to rest in the 3000 block of West
Madison Street.
He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and listed in good condition.
