Chicago police have opened a homicide investigation after a man was found dead on the 5900 block of South Winchester Avenue in the West Englewood neighborhood.
Sources said the victim was found shot in the chest in the stairwell of an
abandoned building Monday afternoon. One of the sources said the body had
started to decompose.
The victim was kidnapped on November 3 near 66th
Street and South Hermitage Avenue -- a little less than a mile south from where
his body was found -- when he was beaten and thrown into a truck that fled the
scene. The victim, a 19-year-old man, had been missing since then.
The man was found unresponsive in a stairwell and was later
pronounced dead at the scene at 3:45 p.m. A police said that preliminary indications
are that the man was found shot in the chest.
