A Cook County judge denied bail Saturday for an Oak Park man accused of fatally
shooting another man in June in the Austin neighborhood.
Craig Bryan, of
the 400 block of West Washington Boulevard in the west suburb, was arrested
Friday afternoon in connection with the shooting death of Keith Sutton, 24.
Bryan shot Sutton once in the head and once in the shoulder after the two men
fought for control of a handgun at about 10:17 p.m. June 2 in the 5700 block of
West Bloomingdale Avenue.
Sutton,
of the 1700 block of North Monitor Avenue, was pronounced dead at about 7:50
p.m.. He died from complications of a gunshot wound
to the head, and his death was ruled a homicide
Before Sutton died, Bryan had been charged with attempted murder and aggravated
battery with a handgun. While police took him into custody for the first time,
he kicked open a squad car door and tried to escape
