Police issued a community alert this afternoon warning about a man who
dragged a 14-year-old girl behind an abandoned and sexually assaulted her in the
city's Gresham neighborhood.
About 8 a.m. Monday, the girl was walking to a bus stop near the 8700 block
of South Halsted Street when she was approached my a man who asked for change.
When she said she didn't have any change to spare, he dragged her behind an
abandoned building where she was sexually assaulted.
The man fled the scene, and the girl went to school where she told school
officials what happened.
The man was described as black with a dark complexion and about 19-years-old.
He is about 5 feet 7 inches tall with a husky build. His fingernails were
excessively bitten down to the skin.
The attacker was wearing a black skull cap and a black lower half ski mask,
and a red jacket with blue and white stripes down the sleeves. He also was
wearing dark blue True Religion jeans and white Air Force One gym shoes
