Twenty-nine students were arrested this morning following a disturbance at Percy L. Julian High School on the Far South Side in the city's Washington Heights neighborhood.
Shortly before 10 a.m., police were called out to a disturbance at the school
located at 10330 S. Elizabeth St.
Police arrived at the school and got the brawl under control, but three
female students and 26 male students were arrested.
Chicago Public Schools issued the following statement after the
“Today’s incident at Julian High School was quickly resolved thanks to swift
action taken on the part of Julian High School staff, CPD and CPS, and all
classes and activities resumed as normal. The education and safety of our
students are our top priorities, and CEO Byrd-Bennett has provided Julian with
additional support and security staff today and throughout the week to ensure
that the learning environment for our students and staff remains a safe
