A man found beaten in the West Humboldt Park neighborhood last year died early
Thursday after being hospitalized since his injuries.
Heliodoro Gill, 53, was declared dead at 4:12 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis
Hospital in Evanston.
Police were called to the 1500 block of North Kedvale about 3:30 a.m. on June
19, 2012, and found the victim on the ground, bleeding from the head
Investigators were able to determine little of what happened, except that it
appeared the victim had been struck from behind with a weapon, police said.
Although the medical examiner’s office said Gill lived in the 4200 block of West
Armitage Avenue, police records indicate the victim was found outside his home.
