Robert Danno, 50, and Jose Fernardo Martinez-Hernandez, 24, are each charged with first-degree murder in the deaths of Mary Ann Urban-Danno, 51, and her mother, Theresa Urban, 71.
Authorities believe the men strangled Danno's wife and mother-in-law Saturday on Chicago's Southwest Side, then loaded their bodies into a PT Cruiser and drove to a forest preserve near Palos Park, leaving the vehicle on fire.
Firefighters were called to the Cap Sauers Holdings Nature Preserve near Ford and Wolf roads around 11:45 p.m. Saturday. Crews found the vehicle engulfed in flames and discovered the bodies after putting out the fire.
Autopsies on Sunday determined that both women had been strangled and their deaths have been ruled homicides.
Officials believe the murders happened Saturday in the 5600 block of South Neenah Avenue, in Chicago's Garfield Ridge neighborhood
