Why the heck is a 11 year old sitting on the steps of her house with her aunt and brother at 4am?

Why is a 16 yr old standing outside a vacant lot just after midnight? When I was 16, I had to be home by 10 and I lived in a town that had less than 15,000 people.

Parents these days are terrible.

You just answered your own question. The eleven year old was sitting on her porch, supervised by an adult. The 4am time is open for questioning, especially knowing what walking trash is out at that time. What's even worse, is that in those hoods, you could stay inside your house and the trash tries to get in. A persistently responsible parent could save some lives but not all. The eleven year old was at home.

Every responsible parent always has their 11 yr old child sitting outside on the front stairs every morning at 4 a.m. Don't you racists know that!?

6000 E 62nd Street does not exist in Chicago. Do you mean 600 E 62nd Street?
