North Side man beaten with two-by-four in Wicker Park
25-year-old North Side man was badly beaten with a two-by-four and robbed Sunday afternoon in Wicker Park.
The man was seated on the grass about 1:30 p.m. at Wicker Park, 1425 N. Damen Ave., when a man attacked him with a two-by four – hitting him in the head and body numerous times.
The victim suffered a fractured spine, fractured nose, and his right eye was swollen shut. The attacker took the victim's turquoise-colored Alpine backpack, which contained some clothing, books, and $4.
A Chicago Fire Department ambulance was called and the man, of the Park West neighborhood on the city’s North Side, was taken to Saint Mary's Hospital in serious but "stable" condition.
The attacker, a 6-feet-1-inch man with a shaved head who weighs 185 pounds and is between the ages of 25 and 30, fled after the attack
