Adam Holderbaum, 27, of the 3400 block of South Claremont Avenue, faces a first-degree murder charge in the fatal shooting of Eduardo Venagas, 18, on June 23.
Holderbaum also faces attempted first-degree murder and aggravated discharge of a firearm charges in the incident, which took place about 11:30 p.m. in the 3300 block of South Bell Avenue in McKinley Park, about a block from Venagas' home.
That evening, Holderbaum and two other males approached Venagas and a 22-year-old who was with him.
Holderbaum held a gun and began yelling at Venagas about a problem with Holderbaum's cousin.
He shot Venagas in the abdomen then took aim at the other man. Holderbaum fired at the second man but missed him because the victim flung himself to the ground.
Holderbaum then shot Venagas in the back and shoulder before he fled with the other two males.
Venagas was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he died.
The second victim identified Holderbaum in a photo array and a physical lineup.
A witness who knows Holderbaum and was present at the shooting also identified him as Venagas' killer.
