The woman and her sister intervened in an argument around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 6600 block of South Lowe Avenue and was thrown down a flight of stairs by Mario Jackson, 33.
"The victim suffered a compound fracture to her ankle which resulted in the loss of her left foot" .
She was taken to Stroger Hospital, where she was listed in serious condition.
Jackson, of the 6900 block of South Green Street, was arrested after a brief chase, police said. He was charged with aggravated battery cause great bodily harm.
