An Edgewater neighborhood man is charged with shooting an Uptown man outside his home Sunday after the shooter tried to evade authorities by discarding his shirt.
Narvarro Phillips, 28, faces charges of aggravated battery with a firearm and being a habitual criminal in possession of a gun in the shooting of a 33-year-old man in the 5000 block of North Kenmore Avenue about 7 p.m. Sunday.
Witnesses told police Phillips shot the 33-year-old in the right leg. When officers arrived following a 911 call about shots fired, they saw Phillips, wearing an orange shirt and white pants, running away.
As he was fleeing, a witness shouted "Yeah, that's the dude! Go get him!," according to a report.
Phillips discarded the orange shirt as he ran but was caught in the 5300 block of North Kenmore, a block from his home in the 5300 block of North Sheridan Road
