A woman who was found robbed and stabbed to death this morning in what appears to be a domestic-related attack on the South Side in the city's Avalon Park neighborhood has been identified.
Authorities were seeking a male relative of the woman, who fled in the victim's SUV, police said.
Virginia Spaulding, 70, of the 1100 block kof East 81st Street, was found with stab wounds at her home.
Spaulding was pronounced dead on the scene at 10:09 a.m.
Officers were called about 9:25 a.m. to the 1100 block of East 81st StreetMirabelli.
A 67-year-old woman was found stabbed there and was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to preliminary information, the stabbing appears to be domestic-related, Mirabelli said.
As of 11 a.m., police were on the scene investigating and no one was in custody for the attack.
Authorities believe the victim's male relative, who is in his 30s, is a person of interest in her slaying, police said. Before fleeing in the victim’s turquoise-colored Ford Escape SUV, the attacker also grabbed her purse
