A Chicago man was denied bail Sunday as he faces a first-degree murder charge in the fatal shooting of a fellow gang member last month.
Jimmie Ollie, 40, of the 1400 block of West 71st Street, is accused of the May 29 murder of 36-year-old Scottie Cartledge.
Ollie and Cartledge are both members of the Conservative Vice Lords gang and were at the same party May 29
The two men began arguing about the different people they had each brought to the party on the 7500 block of South Carpenter.
Cartledge was angry that Ollie brought a person who was rumored to have murdered Cartledge’s brother.
The victim continued to argue with Ollie about his choice of friends until Ollie became angry and retrieved a gun from a car.
Ollie came back and shot the victim in the chest.
Cartledge died at the scene.
Ollie fled the scene after the shooting but was identified by several witnesses as the triggerman.
He also made statements prior to his arrest admitting that he shot and killed Cartledge.
Ollie has nine prior felony convictions, including one in 1993 for attempted murder

My heart is broken, my mind is going. I'm happy and sad at the sametime. Thankful that my brother killer has been charged with murder. I know he's not coming back but just praying for justice and pray that this will also lead to the arrest of the the guy who killed my other brother.
I just want to thank the administrator for cleaning up the vile, evil and sick post that have been on here. Everything from the racist comments to people praising gang activity. I really really do enjoy this blog even thought the blog is filled with heartbreaking stories and news. But I see there is still some good in this world and part of it I see is in the administrator.
