Someone dropped off a man at John H. Stroger. Jr. Hospital of Cook County with a gunshot graze wound to the face about 3:30 a.m. Police said the 28-year-old wouldn't say where he had been shot, though officers heard gunfire in the area of 21st and Wood streets in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood not long before the man showed up at Stroger.
Police had stopped a maroon-colored SUV with bullet holes, broken glass and a flat tire a few blocks south, on Damen Avenue just south of Roosevelt Road in the Illinois Medical District neighborhood, but police said the two men in the vehicle, stopped by University of Illinois at Chicago police, were also uncooperative.
