An 18-year-old man shot while riding in a car blocks from his family home in the South Shore neighborhood died this morning,.
Tracy Gipson was declared dead at 4:39 a.m. today at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County.
Gipson, of the 7600 block of South Ridgeland Avenue, was shot early Wednesday.
Gipson was riding in a vehicle north on Merrill Avenue toward 75th Street about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday when the vehicle passed a group of people, and one of them fired shots at the vehicle, hitting Gipson. Gipson was struck in the head.
Gipson was taken to Jackson Park Hospital and later transferred to Stroger
