Bail was denied today for a South Side man charged with the shooting death of a teen who was waiting to walk a friend home from an “L” stop on the Green Line.
“I just don’t think there’s a condition of bond that can keep everyone safe,'' said Judge Adam Bourgeois Jr. during the hearing for Jerome Brown, 26, who is charged with the murder of Kevin Ambrose, 19.Brown was stopped in a light-colored sedan matching the description of a car used in the shooting of Ambrose in the 4700 block of South Calumet Avenue about 11 p.m. Tuesday.

Brown was riding in a car near 48th Street and Prairie Avenue about 11 p.m. when he saw the victim, pulled over and got out of the car.
He went into the trunk to retrieve a weapon and fired shots at Ambrose before getting back into the car and driving away.
Later Brown told a friend about the murder, and about 90 minutes later he and at least one other friend drove past the crime scene and a witness spotted the car, leading to his arrest.
Brown later tested positive for gunshot residue
