Willie Wimberly, 35, was found fatally stabbed in the 1900 block of South Spaulding Avenue, and declared dead at 9:25 a.m. at Mount Sinai Hospital.
Police responded to a call of a person stabbed about 8 a.m. and found the victim in a home on Spaulding, being treated by Chicago Fire Department paramedics. It was believed the man was stabbed in a domestic dispute, and a knife was found.
Wimberly's girlfriend was taken into custody and was being questioned by detectives, but it was uncertain whether she would be charged or might be released because she may have been acting in self-defense
