Watson’s lawyer read a letter written by her client in which he apologized to Katona-King’s family, saying he never meant to kill anyone and that he had thought “snatching iPhones was the safest way to support myself.”
“All I wanted to do was snatch iPhones and get away,” Watson’s letter read. “I know I hurt your family tremendously. … Please forgive me.”
Watson was arrested five months after he knocked Katona-King to her death at the Fullerton Avenue "L" station, when he was apprehended following another iPhone robbery on a CTA train. He pleaded guilty today to two counts of robbery in addition to murder. Judge James Linn sentenced him to the 32-year prison term as part of a plea deal worked out among the lawyers.

Funny that the victim also had a hard knock life story of abuse by parents, alcoholism, homelessnes and hunger, but she chose to change her lot and help others while he chose to be a rob and injure others w no remorse because he didnt mean too. Where are all the people who say that was a life she didnt deserve that she wasnt doing nothing bad? They are silent and I know why, but do they realuze why they are silent? This was a good person who did harm to no one, who helped her fellow man more than others, maybe more than anyone reading or posting here and all anyone can say is: unfair sentance? Or he was black who cares? When will it end? When will the hate end when both sides are seething
So sad an innocent person had to die because this child's patents failed tp do thier job.
