25 year old man shot in Englewood
Tuesday night about 9:45 p.m., a 25-year-old man was shot in the 6200 block
of South Paulina Street.The man had answered the doorbell and become involved in a struggle when three people tried to push their way inside. During the struggle, one of the people shot the man with a handgun on the front porch, and three people fled on foot.
The man was taken with a gunshot wound to the right shoulder to Stroger, where his condition was stabilized.
The shooting happened in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.
17 year old boy shot in Belmont Central
At about 2:40 a.m., a 17-year-old boy showed up at Our Lady of the Resurrection Hospital with a graze wound to the neck.
The boy was shot inside a
vehicle in the 2500 block of North Austin Avenue. A second vehicle pulled up, and someone inside a vehicle fired
shots into the boy's vehicle, grazing him in the neck.
33 year old man shot in Logan Square
At about 5:15 a.m. this morning, a 33-year-old man showed up at John H. Stroger
Jr. Hospital of Cook County with a gunshot wound to the thigh.
The man's condition was stabilized at the hospital.
Police believe the shooting happened near the intersection of West Armitage and
North Kedzie avenues, in the West Side's Logan Square neighborhood.
The shooting took place at or near Sherwood Park, 5701 S. Shields Ave..
About 4:30 p.m. Englewood District officers were in the area of 59th Street and Princeton Avenue when they heard shots fired, according to Pat Camden, a police union spokesman.
They went to where they heard the gunfire and found a man who’d been shot, said Camden. They also encountered two armed men, one of whom ran away while the other began pointing a gun at the officers.
“They see this guy with a gun and he sees them,’’ Camden said. ”He started shooting at the cops and they returned fire,’’ Camden said. No one was hit.
Meanwhile, a second set of officers took off running after the man who fled, chasing him to 58th Street and Shields Avenue and into a building.
“With a gun in his hand, he pointed it at them and they fired and did not hit him,’’ Camden said.
Both gunmen, who were in their late teens or early 20s, were taken into custody and the guns they were wielding were recovered, Camden said.
At 4:44 p.m. paramedics who were called to the intersection of 57th Street and Shields Avenue for a person shot, took the victim, an 18-year-old man, to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in critical condition.
Camden said the men in custody are suspected in the wounding of the hospitalized victim and praised the actions of the officers.
