A 23-year-old alleged gang member was arrested and ordered held without bail in
the fatal shooting of two rival gang members in the Back of the Yards
neighborhood in May.
Tywan Mason, of the 7800 block of
South Wolcott Avenue, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and on
Friday.

Mason is
charged with the May 9 killings of William Herron-Junius, of the 6900 block of
South Lowe Avenue, and Lamont Matticx, of the 2100 block of West 54th
Place.
Herron-Junius and Matticx, both 20, were standing on the street on
the 5300 block of South Hoyne Avenue at about 4:45 p.m. when a white SUV
approached and Mason fired, striking both men,.
Mason was
arrested on Thursday on the 7000 block of South Michigan Aveneue by the Chicago
Police Department's fugitive apprehension unit after witnesses identified the
man as the suspected shooter
