A man hid in a woman's van while she was buying items at an Indiana gas station
last week and later sexually assaulted and robbed her in Chicago.
On March 22 about 6:20 a.m. while the
26-year-old woman was inside a Hammond gas station the man entered her unlocked
minivan and hid in the back,
After she drove away he revealed himself and said he had a weapon, possibly a
knife, although he did not show or use one. He forced the woman to drive to
various locations before stopping in an alley in the 9500 block of South Colfax
Avenue, where he sexually assaulted her.
The woman was then
made to drive to the area of 103rd Street and Torrance Avenue, where she was
forced to remove money from an ATM. The man exited the vehicle in the vicinity
of 89th and Lowe Streets.
The alert describes the attacker
as a black man about 30-33 years old, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10 and 160-180 pounds,
with a medium build, brown eyes, a dark complexion and cornrow-style
braids.
He was last seen wearing a black ski mask covering his face with
a rectangular opening for the eyes; a long-sleeve red Chicago Bulls shirt; black
and gray jeans; and a dark blue or black varsity-style jacket with horizontal
stripes on the sleeves, white lettering on the front and a design in white on
the back
