Two people died and two others were critically injured in a three-vehicle
crash on the Southbound Lake Shore Drive about 4 a.m. Friday.
The crash closed the Southbound Lake Shore Drive as traffic was being
diverted at the Belmont Avenue exit for about four hours. The lanes were
expected to reopen after 8 a.m..
The wreck involved two SUVs and a Toyota car but the actual cause of the
crash is under investigation by the Chicago Police Department's Major Accidents
Investigations Unit,
The crash happened between Belmont and Diversey avenues on the Southbound
lanes.
The two people who died were in the same SUV.
Two people were taken in serious-to-critical condition and one was taken to
Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and the other person was taken to
Northwestern Memorial Hospital
