9-year-old among boys using paintball gun in Skyway restaurant stickups

Three boys, including a 9-year-old, were arrested after they brandished a paintball gun to rob two 12-year-old boys in the McDonald's on the Chicago Skyway. said police and prosecutors.
The robberies happened Sunday at a McDonald's restaurant in the 4000 block of East 106th Street about 6:30 p.m. The restaurant is the McDonald's on the Chicago Skyway, 4047 E. 106th St.
Lamar C. Lewis, 17, of the 8200 block of South Houston Avenue, was charged as an adult with felony aggravated robbery .
A 16-year-old boy from Chicago was charged as a juvenile with aggravated robbery.
In addition to those teens a 9-year-old boy was also arrested and appeared in juvenile court on Tuesday but juvenile charges against him are pending.
The three suspects were with at least two other boys when they used what police believe to be a paintball gun to rob two 12-year-old boys inside the restaurant.
Lewis was with the 16-year-old and at least two other boys in the bathroom of the restaurant and confronted a 12-year-old boy.
After brandishing what police believe may have been a paintball gun, Lewis and several members of the group began to beat the first victim. During the beating, they threw him to the ground and went through his pockets. They took the boy's cell phone, iPod and money.
As they were leaving the restaurant, the group of five suspects, this time including a 9-year-old boy robbed a second 12-year-old in another part of the restaurant. They stole a cell phone from the second boy.
The second robbery was witnessed by a 44-year-old man and 33-year-old woman.
The man ran after the group of boys and managed to lead police to at least three of the five suspects.
Lewis and the 16-year-old boy were arrested at about 7 p.m. on the 10900 block of South Ewing and the 9-year-old was arrested on the 10800 block of South Ewing at about the same time,.
The other two suspects managed to escape. The paintball gun was not recovered.
The boy in the bathroom sustained bruising to his face but declined medical attention. The juveniles were released to the custody of their parents after a hearing this week
