Police today warned the community about a series of armed robberies of people
leaving Metra Electric line trains near the Pullman or Kensington
stations.
In the three recent robberies, the victim left either the
Pullman (111th St.) or Kensington (115th St.) station and was followed by a
group of armed robbers who demanded and took property.
The robberies took place Feb. 6 at 7:45 p.m. in the
11400 block of South St. Lawrence Avenue, Feb. 9 at 8 p.m. in the 400 block of
East 111th Street and Feb 15 at 7:50 p.m. in the 500 block of East 114th Place.
Descriptions of the robbers varied, but in general depicted
groups of two to five young black men, 17-22 years old, 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-10 and
150-170 pounds. The weapon displayed was described as a black
handgun, and in one attack one robber was described as wearing a navy/cream
jacket and a black ski mask.
