A West Side man already on parole for burglary was arrested when Chicago police on an unrelated investigation saw him steal a TV from a West Side home.
Officers assigned to the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force were on the 1200 block of North Austin Boulevard at 2:20 p.m. Wednesday when they saw two men leave a residence and run from the scene, one carrying a flat-screen TV covered by a yellow sheet.
The task force members radioed in to Grand Central District officers, who after a short foot chase arrested Tavarris White, 20, of the 1100 block of North Mason Avenue.
The second suspect was not found, and personal items taken from the home, including the TV, were not recovered. The task force officers were able to identify White at the scene after the arrest.
