A 33-year-old man was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol when
his car crashed into viaduct on the near West Side, killing a female passenger
in his vehicle.
Andrew Jones, of the 700th block of W. 17th St., was charged with two
felonies including aggravated driving under the influence and reckless
homicide. Jones has also been charged with two misdemeanors, including driving
on a suspended license and driving a vehicle with no insurance.
Chantelle Jones, 26, was killed after riding in the front passenger seat of
Jones' car Saturday morning on the 1600 block of South Western Avenue when it
hit a viaduct on Western Avenue and split in half.
Chantelle Jones, of the 1200 block of South 56th Court in Cicero, was
pronounced dead at 5:34 a.m..
Andrew Jones was treated and released from an area hospital after he
sustained cuts and bruises.
The man and woman were in a Saturn traveling at about 2:15 a.m. when the
accident happened. The woman was found outside the vehicle
