A man was ordered held on $750,000 bail today for his role in the fatal shooting of a 13-year-old boy in the West Woodlawn neighborhood last June.
DeWayne Chester, 20, of the 6300 block of South Rhodes Avenue, is
charged with first-degree murder in the death of Tyquan Tyler, who was shot on
June 24, 2012.
Tyler was at a party with his 19-year-old sister in the
6200 block of South Rhodes Avenue when a fight broke out at about 1:20 a.m.. The alleged gunman, Nasean Flowers of the 6200 block of South
Langley Avenue is being held on $2 million bail.
Chester's is a gang member and had been fighting with members of another
Tyler was standing with other people in the alley of South Rhodes
when Chester and Flowers walked into the alley. Flowers had a
gun in his hand and fired twice into the group. Chester and Flowers
then ran away.
Tyler was struck once in the chest.
