One person has died and two were taken to hospitals following a traffic wreck on the Dan Ryan Expressway on the Far South Side this afternoon..
Their identity was not being released pending notification of family members.
That person was one of two occupants of a vehicle that was pulled over on the shoulder of the northbound Ryan near 95th Street when another vehicle struck it about 2:15 p.m..
The driver of the striking vehicle is a man in his 70s who lost control of the vehicle for an unknown reason before the crash. "Alcohol was not involved,''.
A second person in the parked car suffered serious injuries and was also taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where the victim was pronounced dead.
The man in his 70s did not suffer life threatening injuries and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital to be checked out.
Chicago Fire Department tweeted all three people were in serious to critical condition.
