New charges against rape suspect who broke into homes

A man already in custody for sexually assaulting a woman after breaking into her home is facing new accusations of forcing his way into the homes of three other women on the North Side and taking pictures of the two of them as they slept.
Derrick Baldwin, 33, was charged with home invasion, criminal sexual abuse and burglary.
Baldwin was arrested in November in initially charged with breaking into a home in the 500 block of West Kinzie Street and sexually assaulting a 29-year-old woman on Oct. 28.
The new charges stem from incidents on Aug. 15, Aug. 18 and Oct. 6.
On Aug. 15, Baldwin entered the home of a woman in the 0-100 block of East Ontario Street around 5:15 a.m. and took a picture of a woman as she slept in her bed.
On Aug. 18, he allegedly broke into the home of a woman in her late 20s in the 500 block of North Dearborn Street who was sleeping in a living room.
He walked past her and was opening a bedroom door when the woman sat up and Baldwin “calmly’’ left her home. The woman told police her driver’s license was missing.
On Oct. 6, he broke in the home of a woman in her late 20s in the 1600 block of North LaSalle Drive around 4:30 a.m.. He removed some of her clothing and took photographs of her while she slept.
