A 19-year-old woman is facing charges after the car she was driving fatally struck a man in the West Woodlawn neighborhood this morning and she fled the area on foot.
The incident happened on the 6700 block of South Langley Avenue at about 9:50 a.m..
The woman was driving south on Langley when she struck Derrick Woodhouse, 39, of the 7300 block of South Carpenter Street.
After striking Woodhouse with her 1999 Pontiac Grand Am, the woman stopped the car and then fled from the vehicle on foot.
The woman later walked into the Major Accidents Unit with her parents and other relatives and turned herself in to police.
The car has been impounded and a police source said there was blood on the front of the vehicle
