A 28-year-old woman died this morning when a fire broke out in a home in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.
The fire started in an 1 1/2-story building at 5618 S. Paulina Avenue shortly before 7:30 a.m. Fire officials said a smoke detector with no battery was found in a kitchen drawer.
The cause of death was pending an autopsy report.
