Charges have been filed against a man who was shot by a security guard while trying to rob another person at gunpoint at a Far South Side housing complex Saturday evening.
Michael Wilson, 31, of the 9000 block of South Colfax Avenue, was charged with one count of armed robbery and four counts of aggravated assault to a security officer.
Wilson was shot by the guard about 5:30 p.m. in the 8800 block of South Burley Avenue in the South Chicago neighborhood as he was trying to rob someone at gunpoint.
When security guards saw the robbery happening, a guard announced his office and ordered Wilson to drop his weapon. Wilson pointed his handgun at the security guard, who, fearing for his life and the safety of others, then shot Wilson.
Wilson was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn and his gun was recovered. No one else was hurt
